Today we're reading trade show announcements like they're stock tips, because the biggest aftermarket show of the year just told us where the money is going. And it is not going where you'd expect.
Look, the show is called AAPEX, the big automotive aftermarket trade show in Las Vegas. It runs November third through the fifth at the Venetian Expo. I am not going. It is the middle of route season, and nobody is covering my stops while I eat shrimp at a buffet. But here's the thing. I read the exhibitor announcements anyway, because they're a futures market. Companies pay real money for booths in Vegas and for the press releases that go out ahead of it, and they only spend that money on what they believe operators are going to buy next year. So if you want to know where the industry thinks your wallet is headed, read what they're showing off.
And this morning, Continental's group sector ContiTech announced they're exhibiting at booth V twenty twenty-three. Now, Rubber World magazine reported that today, and ContiTech's pitch is aimed at distributors, installers, fleet operators, and service professionals. Their words. That tells you the aftermarket is still courting the working shop, not just the warehouse club. But the bigger tell isn't one booth. It's the pattern across the announcements.
